So, as I was saying.
You just have to watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog to see that Nathon Fillion can play a superhero. And until I become a millionaire and commission a new series of Firefly where we ignore the movie and pick up where season 1 left off, Fillion needs another kick ass role.
And just to make sure this thread doesn't run out of steam, let's not forget the early rumours that John Barrowman would play Cpt. A.

But the movie's going to be set during WW2 and Cap's twenty-five at most by the end. I refuse to let go of this piece of comic nerdery. Then again, you're using Captain Hammer as a serious example of Nathan Fillion playing a superhero. Honestly, I think they need to cast someone new and relatively unknown. Actually, they just need to cast someone. COME ON, MARVEL.

Tony totally sings that to piss off Steve all the time. When they let me write comics, I will make this canon.

The russian dude who did CA the first time should do it again.
Or Al Pacino!

You think Al Pacino should be in everything. Accept it, there are some roles he's just not meant to play.
Christopher Walken on the other hand...

Sadly it can't be Jeff Bridges. It would cause a Marvel-Mind-Fuck for pedantic supergeeks everywhere if the baddie from Iron Man also played Captain America.
Although, it would make The Avengers interesting. Iron Man and Cpt. America meet for the first time and have a petty argument over whether or not they've met before.

I say Al Pacino can play everything because he could! Have you seen a part in a film he's done that he hasn't acted the shit out of?
And Adam Sandler would be amazing.
Edward Norton would kick ass too.

I would pay good money to see Edward Norton play both Cap and Hulk. He can be the antagonist and main protagonist of the same movie.

That's because Mr Norton is also the sex, along with Mr Pacino.

Well, his voice, anyway. Come to think of it, I would like to hear some of Cap's ridonkulous speeches read by Edward Norton...
Damn, now I want to watch Fight Club.

This would suggest that they are giving up on the Fantastic 4 franchise. Awesome.
However, the dubious spelling of that article begs for concurrence. The only periodical I trust with my movie news is Empire, and they're running no such piece. Surely they wouldn't miss news as epic as the hotly debated Cpt. A casting when they're capable of revealing than John Malkovich has signed on for Transformes 3?

Are you suggesting Twitter isn't an absolutely 100% reliable news source?!
But no, it hasn't as yet been confirmed by Marvel themselves, so we'll keep it in the "rumour" category for now.
