Having gone on a quest today for my SNES controllers, I was, upon my eventual midnight-ish return tonight, finally able to relive my childhood with this game.
WHICH IS EVEN MORE AWESOME THAN I REMEMBER.
So if I'm not at Writers' on Tuesday, it's because I spent all weekend eating mushrooms and going down green pipes and then remembered I was supposed to do French. Or, more likely, I'm still playing Mario. That eighth world is a bitch from what I remember; it'll probably take me a while. Damn you, Bowser, damn you.
(Seriously, SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS, I thought Super Mario World was my favourite game as a kid, but nothing compares to this nostalgia. I mean, SMW was the little brother, trying to be cool with its novelty red levels with secret exits and its Yoshi. When I started playing Mario, you had to figure out if there were secret exits yourself, and you didn't have any sexually-ambiguous dinosaurs helping you! And capes? Capes?! If we wanted to fly, we had to somehow turn a leaf into a furry hat and tail ... AWESOMELY.)

Just Completed SMB3, it's 400 awesome. I did get stuck on one of the World 8 castles for years though. Mario came out of there with a beard and a nervous tick induced by over exposure to lava and bricks that try to fall on you :s

Well, I suppose ticks aren't really fans of lava or falling bricks, no.

I remember playing the Bros. 3 on a haunted NES. One time, and one time only, it allowed me to reach the very last world. I was...on an airship of some kind dodging Bullet-Bills when it suddenly started to freak out. I killed Bowser's kid before the system came to a screeching, colour-raping, physics-defying crash.
I was so scared that I never played it again.

My console seems almost as troublesome. I made the mistake of switching out cartridges to play Legend of Zelda last night. Which is also an awesome game, but somehow my Mario cartridge got wiped.
And even when I leave it in, if I shut off the power when I'm, say, at the final castle of a world but haven't completed it, the rest of my progress on that world gets wiped.
...
This may take longer than I anticipated...

You're going to dissect this technology to assist in the construction of your doomsday machine?

I wish I could be all patronising and pat you on the head through the computer, Stewart. I'll try to remember tomorrow.

You're just too adorable to be a supervillain.
Heyyy, I just worked out who they based Family Guy's Stewie on!

Ha! And the name's the same (ish)!
Someone needs to get me something to play all these Mario games on so I have some clue as to what is going on!
Meanwhile, once I have done some studying for the exams and actually done this, I shall steal (borrow) my wee sister's Wii and play the Sonic and Mario games...

I gave up on my quest, by the way. I got a game over on World 7 and got a bit frustrated, and thought, "Well, maybe it won't get wiped if I take it out for just a few minutes--"
The good news is, Mario Kart and Street Fighter 2 both work!

Suck and sucker.
Streets of Rage and Road Rash 2 are far superior than those two.

The Princess is still in another castle! How could you let her down so? Just because you're hallucinating that you're racing next to her on a road made from rainbows doesn't mean she's not in mortal danger IN REALITY! Geeeez, the second rate heroes you get these days...
