I ask what I'm needed for, and then go help.

Actually, is it an overnight train or the other crappy kind? Cause I never thought about it being an overnight one. So, if it is an overnight one, then Fire Bear claims a whole cabin to herself with Blanka. And goes to sleep after hanging up a sign which says "Do Not Disturb Under ANY Circumstances" which I conveniently find in said cabin.

It is an overnight train, a 'sleeper' if you will. As such you will find many cabins on board that are fully fitted so make yourselves at home. There's also a buffet car to the rear of the train that has not had its stock unloaded yet.
Tsunami, the reactor furnaces are in the train itself at the very front and there are several lads helping to keep the engines running. They give you a radiation suit and ask you to help them remove the spent etha-lead rods and replace them with 'fresh' ones. Etha-lead is a stable but low-output radioactive material with a very short half-life. There is a small stock-pile of etha-lead rods on the train, enough to make several journeys.
El Cid and the others find their own cabins. I think, with the train being prepared to disembark, that it's almost time to bring this lengthy chapter to a close. Anything need doing before we close?

I suddenly remember something and, before going to sleep, locate McBain and ask him where Starlong is.
"I mean, we're going to leave him behind - is he going to catch us up or are we just abandoning him? either way is fine by me, but, out of interest...?"

"He took off on a horse back at the military base. I thought he was following me to the station, but clearly I was wrong. If I know him, which I barely do, he's probably scattered across a minefield by now."
I then postpone stuffing my face in order to make a rather important point.
"He was the only reason we were even heading to Rainbow Road. Without him, there's no reason to carry out that mission. I mean, I'll still be heading there since I need to retrieve Zev's hat, but you guys are free to go your separate ways."

I fold my arms across my chest with my head at such an angle that the hat I presumably have on tilts downwards and hides my eyes.
"You weren't there at the start, anyway - what makes you think it was his idea?
"Besides, we're pretty much wanted in every town we've come across - if we get the N64 or whatever, that may change.
"So, I'm going on at least. We'll probably bump into him at some point, anyhow."

"What makes me so sure it was his idea? How about the fact that we were attacked by a wealthy débutante that hired the other team to beat Starlong and his employer?"

I glare at him before walking back to my claimed cabin and going to sleep with a Do Not Disturb sign on the door.
[And I think that's this chapter done.]
