So I got stuck again. Well, I say stuck, it's just the fact that I'm dying over and over again in Monstro's stomach and it's getting on my nerves. Especially when I have to go through that damned cut-scene over and over again. Does anyone have any helpful hints of how to a) stay alive and b) kill the weird Heartless thing?

I'm assuming the second fight against parasite cage? The acid and that corrosive breath attack it has make this one a little tricky because there's no space and it's easy to run right into the acid floor while trying to avoid attacks. Try to move carefully and deliberately, avoiding the acid at all costs, and maybe set Donald to use healing magic only, Goofy to go on the offensive. To avoid corrosive breath, give dodge-roll a whirl, or if it's just too cramped to dodge it without falling into the acid then don't try to dodge it (as this will sometimes land you in the acid); prepare to take the hit instead and heal immediately; fall back to one of the ledges to heal if he's swinging his arms about. Try a weapon that has plenty of strength in it. If that doesn't work, swap to one that gives more MP (for healing).

Oh... I have more than one weapon... I should really pay more attention to those menu things...

P-please tell me you've at least equipped some abilities and shit. Ohgod, no wonder you were taking so long with this game.
Equip Donald and Goofy with plenty of potions, you don't want to have to waste time trying to use those yourself in the middle of a fight (although if you've got Cura magic by now this is less important).

Becks, please tell me you've been equipping abilities and equipment and not ploughing through the game with, well, nothing. Because if you have, and you've gotten this far, then that means you're probably better at this game than everybody.
Another question; do you know what 'Cure' is? Or potions?

I desperately want to see her save file now, just because I feel it would be amazing.
Perhaps I'll steal back the PS2 from my brother tomorrow and try to get through the whole game with no abilities or extra weapons, just to see how long it takes.

In defence of Bex, I didn't realise I had different style keyblades until at least the fourth world... Apart from flashing up on the screen once, nothing ever mentions them again and it doesn't exactly tell you how to work that (arguably, at least) complicated menu thing. Can't say the same about spells and potions though... They are vital... If you chose sword/shield and dropped magic, I see how you could just be the tank and win each battle through might alone, but even then it wouldn't be easy. Usually I'm too distracted building my gummi ship to pay attention to any of this stuff though

You too, Tom? Geez.
A KH challenge sounds like fun. I'll have to hold off on that, though; I'm slugging through the modded Hardcore version of FF7 on PC right now and that mod takes no prisoners (Example: I was expecting a serene choco-dance and then to be handed my first summon materia. I got the summon materia alright, summoned right at my face. Twice. Game Over.)

I have been equipping things. Sora has a goddamned Protera Chain/Portera Chain/however it's spelled on him. Not that I know how to use it.
And I gave Goofy and Donald potions after dying a few times with that thing and using all my damn potions...
And what's this about different styles of Keyblades? This is, like, the most amazingly cool thing ever!
I shall let you know how I get on with it once I've played it again...

.....
You don't use Protera chains, they just give your defence an automatic boost when you equip them so you take less damage from each physical hit.

Ah, I see...
I'm gonna double-check it's actually equipped, then...

Equip Sora with the items that'll give him more of what you want, if you want more health then some of them give you more HP, some of them give you more magic bars or ability points, etc. You should have collected a whole bunch by now, you pick them up and get them after beating other bosses. And make sure you're equipping abilities that'll help you.
I don't even remember the Monstro level very much, it's been so long since I did that bit!

Leave Donald and Goofy to fight and run awaaay. Not that I should be giving out advice as I've yet to complete either of them...

It's all good - I didn't really change much bar how I was going about killing the thing and got through it.
Then I got this song stuck in my head when I got onto the next world...
