Nothing to do with the RP game going on, though it has the same abbreviation.
Nope. I am currently designing and coding my own RPG video game! And, of course, I'll be inflicting a finished product on you guys sometime next year. Until then, it's all betas and tests that I'd appreciate your input on.
If anyone could secure a generous supply of WAV file sound-effects for me, particularly ones that would go well with system menus (like FF7 menu noises) and general sound effects like in the films, I'd appreciate it.
Currently done: -) Battle System -) Four characters -) First area (Slums) -) Selected in-game music -) Two enemies and a boss coded -) Learned how to code a conversation between NPC's. -) Basic battle animations coded -) Element system implemented -) A few items coded -) Learned how to make switches.
Not done: -) The thirty or so other areas of the game -) The hundred or so other enemies in the game -) More complex battle animations -) Variables still a mystery -) The World Map (if there is one) -) Complex cut-scenes -) Fixing that damn font. -) Cured cancer

Interesting, what code are you making it up in? Can I help? (Expertise includes minor coding in HTML, Visual Basic, C++, with room for improvement in all areas. Also graphics designing in Photoshop [see my latest slapped together funny piece on Facebook])

What is that, a CV?
I'm not 'coding' the game as in writing it from scratch. It's a program I'm using (RPG Maker 2000) with all the codes pre-programmed; all I have to do is learn how to use it properly to code in complex cut-scenes (and to get by the limitations of the program itself).
Problem is that the install file with all the default chipsets, tiles, and sprites to be used in the program was corrupt so I have to find all that stuff from the Internet and install it as 'extra material'. Not that I mind that (too much).
The problem I have right now is that I take images direct from the Internet for use as monster sprites. And that means that a great white block containing the image of the monster appears on the backdrop picture I'm using; what I need is a batch of these images cropped in PNG format or as Bitmaps without the white/black backgrounds. Is there a program that can do that? Kind of like crop away all the background stuff and just leave a transparent backing so that the image appears to be on its own with no background? I only have Paint and it doesn't have an option/tool for that.
If you have a program handy that can crop those images (or design new ones from scratch) for me, it'd help with the game's look. And nab you a place in the ending credits.

If only I could remember the image editing software my school had, it would've been perfect. Sadly I don't have any such program, even after a web search. However, if you need some animation done, I did find a program to help with that.

Thanks, Cati. For that, Ironman will now be in the game.

I can do that in photoshop, but it looks like this graphics problem has drawn to a conclusion already

Fraid not. I didn't like the look of the scary download files being suggested. They were scary.
...photoshop?

I'll have a crack at your GIMP needs. What do you want done?
You'd think I would pick a better way to phrase that, wouldn't you?

Yup. You could of.
Alright. Deal is I need pictures either in Bitmap or PNG format. The idea is to get rid of the white/black background and replace it with a transparent one so that when the picture appears on a Background, it looks like it's on the background rather than appearing in a big white/black block.
What I could use is:
An old tank; front-view (as if it's looking out of the screen). Older the better.
Anything that looks like it was made in a laboratory.
Mad scientists. The more bat-shit insane the better.
The usual rigmarole of wild animals, abortions of science, armed people, etc. Resident Evil'll turn up a whole batch of material, I'm thinking. The animation style varies so don't worry about that.

Well, I tried, and although I haven't given up and therefore have not failed, you'll probably want to get someone else on this. Otherwise you might be waiting a while.
Wait, got it. Keep that credit open.

Update! Title screen done, opening intro scene done, now working through the first area of the game, the Slums. Looking fine, looking fine. Also managed to grab all the original material from a non-corrupted file-zip so got a lot more to work with now but, sadly, still no tank.

Slums are done. Gunner's bar 1st floor scene done. Got a mass of material from other RPG Maker games (ha! Ripped their enemy images, facesets, chipsets, and charasets right outta them! Score!) and dedicated websites.
Patient Pete provided a multitude of enemy sprites, thus earning KARMA. Remember guys, if you think come across anything that looks kinda dapper in a steampunk/biopunk/general kind of way then send the image my way or Pete's way; make sure it's a PNG, though. This goes for Backgrounds, too.
And...yeah. Next up is tuning the battle system and finishing off skill/move sets. *Yawn*

That's the opening secton of the game done. Will copy it and tune it up as a special beta demo for you guys to give a once over, replete with demo-only in-jokes, a battle-arena thing, and demo-only characters based on the Forum's RP. Anyone who wants one drop a line here and I'll e-mail the game folder to you as an attachment.
