To all who may be interested in such things the National Poetry Competition loams on us soon. 31st October to be exact but by the time we start back to uni and Writer's is in full swing it won't be long at all so I thought an early warning might be useful So yeah, no more than 40 lines, any topic you fancy, must not have been published anywhere before including on the net (Deviant art falls under this as well) £3 a poem and there is a £5000 first prize. Anyone else entering? www.poetrysociety.org.uk/content/competitions/npc/

Tell you what; If I win it'll be an expensive meal and night-out for all you guys. Leave the emo poetry be, Kieron. I think the kind of thing these guys look for ranges from a) pretentious commentary, b) emotionally cold insight (postmodernism), c) twee humour. And of course you'll need to have impeccable form and technique otherwise you won't make it through the filter judges.
