I have no idea what the hell your talking about. Either I don't get it as an AVG user, or you've finally gone off the deep end.

Is this a poll? Cause I vote for the second option!

You see kids - Avast was this free (and therefore popular) antivirus that would announce to the whole frikkin' world when it's virus database has been updated.
"BRRRRRIIIIIINGGGG!!!! VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED!!!" - Nothing was safe. You could be playing music, this would blurt out over it - Movies, blurted over, games - interrupted to the point of crashing and this message unto you the user bestowed upon you in all it's glory. Back in the day it was tempting to just turn the whole thing off and let the viruses loose rather than have this thing constantly interject your computing experience with the same message. Every. Single. Time.
Thing is, over time, it became a part of what I was used to. I'd be ordering my Highland Archers to pummel the English Mailed Knights with arrows of fiery horror and death and the message would crop up - my soldiers cheered and so did I - the war could continue virus free for another day.
Now it's gone, replaced by a different colour pop-up box and a whole new voice - a voice I instantly despise. I miss the old voice, I'm used to it. It's like a comfort.
But I know I'll get use to this new voice, as annoying as it is now. And that just makes me think that I'm molded by my environment into complacency for routine. That thought is the scariest of all, and makes me think I'm not that guy I thought I was. My eyes have been opened this day, and not in a good way.
Then again, the voice has changed from a dude to a chick, so there's something.

I think I'm going to explode from contempt.
Or maybe it's just the wonder of how you can make a thread about how the anti-virus database changing its voice!
Seriously, no-one cares!
Although, it has reminded me that we really should install AVG back on this laptop - even if it means paying it...

Avast annoyed me because I kept trying to update it and it kept being confusing and I was about ready to throw my laptop out the window. Then I remembered I don't have several hundred pounds to spend on a new one, so I just switched back to AVG instead. So your first world problems do not interest me, Thomas.
But! I see what you meant about the little star thing with "new topics"! Weird. Must be a Proboards update.
(See, it's relevant to the topic at hand because it's about another update.)
