Vs. The Clock? Vs. The World: Time Attack? Two potential titles for my 60 second remake. Feedback would be appreciated. Bare in mind, either title will see a 30 second timer on screen during the fights. As for soundtrack, the rules state that only 30 seconds of copyrighted music may be played. "Invaders Must Die" by The Prodigy is the obvious choice for the fight scene, but I'm leaning towards the Mortal Kombat theme now. Opinions please. Bad news for all secondary characters, they're being cut. With the exception of Wallace who provides fantastic exposition, Sex Bob-Omb, Scott's sister etc. will not be making appearances. Blame the time constraints. So, cast listing: Scott Pilgrim: Me (Because I'm egotistical, want to be stabbed with a sword and it's my movie dammit.) Ramona Flowers: Zaze? (Assuming she's up for it. Failing that, anyone with mad coloured hair.) Knives Chau: Open Wallace Wells: Stewart? (May have to provide own bacon.) Mathew PatelPatel: Open Lucas Lee: Open (Though I would like Euan to do this one.) Todd Ingram: Open (But again, for preference, Dave.) Roxy Richter: Cati? (I believe you expressed an interest?) Katayanagi Twins: Open (Would like it if actors looked alike, even just a little. Screw my green screen idea, I have a dissertation to write.) Gideon Graves: Open (But really want Andy to play this one. Don't know why, I can just picture it.) As a final note, anyone who does want to take part had better realise how bloody ambitious I'm being. Seriously, the fighting shouldn't be too strenuous, but it will be suitably impressive. I will be contacting the Film and TV group for help filming whilst simultaneously employing techniques learned from here: www.indymogul.com/Volunteers for general helping will also be greatly appreciated, this is going to be epic.

'vs. the World: Time Attack' is the best title because it's reminiscent of video gaming.
Are you sure you'll be able to play Scott with that beard, Pete?
James would make a good Patel; he can do roundhouse kicks and I believe he has spiritual Fire powers, too. At a pinch though, and if Kieron goes for the Katayanagi twins, I'll play Patel (I look foreign, apparently; also good at being theatrical and a giant douche).
Also, the Katayanagi twins casting can't be done without looking terrible so play it for laughs by having Big Tom and Kieron play the twins.
Wallace should deal with one of the exes by seducing him (we'll be racing through opponents so it would be a good joke to cut aside from the fighting to see one of the exes trying and failing to escape Wallace).
Go online and build a wav. library for the project; sound effects, commentators, etc.

Sadsack and Kieron aren't nearly opposite enough for the twins, that one will need some more thought.
As much as I'd love to see Wallace try to seduce Todd (because Todd is a complete man-whore in the books) that may have to be reserved for the deleted scenes on the DVD.
Oh, and I'm willing to shave.

You? Shave?
And I think Stewart's got something there with the title... (I am trying hard not to admit that he is right...

I could do so much better, but they got a cameo from Simon Pegg. Can't really compete with that. I would be willing to one-up them on that as well, but he's in Canadialand right now.

Looking at the other videos (and some of them use computer graphics etc so you'll have to look into that), you could probably beat them if you went with an actual Boss-rush/Time Attack format and didn't try to cram and chop together scenes from the movie in like these others have. If you have it as one fluid shot (not one take, obviously, but cut so that each scene flows into the next) then it'll stand out.
This's a proposed (rough) storyboard for the film that uses the Union as a setting (its the most practical choice, having a band stage we can access whenever for filming).
I'm thinking the challenge is laid down to Scott at a mock party in the Arbuthknott (whatever it's called) room on the stairs (you have to defeat my 7-evil exes), he looks at camera, the music starts, a timer appears on screen and he then rushes from one area to the next (so he exits through that back door in Arbuthknott that leads onto the Lv8 stage in Union which sets him up for Patel). Patel does his line, dives in, and Scott simply side-steps letting him crash into the stage (KO) then runs out the door into the foyer where Lucas Lee is standing around with a skateboard. Scott challenges him that he can't grind to the ground floor before he gets there by elevator. Lucas Lee accepts and skates off toward the stairs to the right of the elevator, Scott boards the elevator.
The next shot is Scott exiting the elevator (beat delay between boarding and exiting). Lucas Lee is lying face-down in a puddle of coins by a broken skateboard at the foot of the Union stairs. Scott remarks 'Huh. He beat me.' and runs toward the doors. Wallace happens on Lucas and says 'Oh! Unconscious Lucas Lee!' then snaps his fingers in a business-like way. On his way out the front doors, Scott passes Todd being arrested at the hotdog vendor's stall by Vegan police who is shouting 'Hotdogs aren't vegan?!'
Between the Union and the sports hall you'll have Roxie, while in the Sports Hall you'll have enough space to render the twins' amp system to the back wall, which Scott could deal with by unplugging their system before the twins can finish delivering their challenge. Fade to black and back in the 8th floor of Union, with the seats pulled out (resembles that pyramid structure) Gideon starts his (you want to fight me for her) speech which Scott, looking urgently at his watch, interrupts with 'Fight you?! There's no time for that now!' pulls a gun and shoots him. Up the stairs to Ramona, then the overall time of the video (57-9secs) appears digitally at the top of the shot with the flashing 'New Hi-Score'. Everyone appears on camera (exes included) for a final collage shot with those words still on the screen (used to be popular in video games to have the last shot of the entire 'cast' in a pose with a 'Thanks for Playing!' message). Video freezes at 60 seconds on this shot.

That's pretty accurate to what I had in mind. I wasn't that ambitious though.
Instead of all that tedious running about, I would have a simple "Beat 'Em Up" with each Ex arriving as a wave. Even toyed with the idea of the background being a static "stage" with the timer on screen at all times.

For that to work you'll need the camera-angle to be changing a fair bit (close-ups, fly-bys, panning shots, etc) to stop the scene from looking static. Also, none of us can really fight convincingly; is it a good idea to base the entire 60 seconds on that? By the way, isn't the competition over? Winner hasn't been announced because voting doesn't start until the 11th of February. They're not taking any more submissions though. Probably just as well. That was pretty damn good.
