Should've known name dropping wouldn't work twice. Especially mentioning that good-for-nothing excuse for a Captain.
Quick question: How well armed are Alfonse and the Mayor?

And before things get out of hand, have Blanka and I caught up yet?

FYI, Alfonse is a boxer but he's injured. And the mayor looks pretty soft. Why, you gonna start a fight? Remember the security detail outside.
And I was planning to have Starlong and Blanka arrive just after negotiations with the mayor came to a close.

Guess what, negotiations have just come to a close.
"All right, you don't want any additional help, that's fine. But answer me this: What injustices are taking place in this town, that someone felt the need to take the law into their own hands?"
Carefully, so that the Mayor and Alfonse don't notice, I unholster my pistol. Should things turn sour... well, let's just say I'll be ready and signalling Tsunami before you can say "hostage situation".

Vinny, who had been staying silent up until now, gave a derisive snort. "Pete, we've done the job we're gettin' paid for. It ain't our asses Frozen Wolf'll be after. If the Mayor here wants his town to become the next Fertville then that's his problem. Just watch out for the scorpions, that's my advice," he added to the Mayor with a shrug.

Thought the ol' fakeout scare was the way to go, heh! And yes, I'm officially back.

Pete, that would be quite a trick considering that they are both looking at you.
Vinny, nice to see you back. Unfortunately, they don't seem to be buying it ('fertville' made me laugh, though).
Tsu, you're damn right he is. ***
After asking that question, the mayor's eyes narrow and his expression turns hard. He presses a button on the underside of his desk and almost immediately security men come through the doors behind you. There are four of them, armed with batons and body-armour.
"Injustices? Don't make me laugh! I turned this hick town into a profitable, money-making machine and there ain't no goddamn way I'll let some fucking do-gooder saunter in here and try to bring it all down. Commerce is progress, boys!" he gestured to the security men and to Alfonse. "Do 'em!"
The security men rush at you from behind (...) while Alfonse springs in to try and box with only one good arm. Here's the specs on Alfonse:
Boss! Name: Alfonse Job: Boxer Job Aptitude: Duckin' n' Weavin': This character is hard to hit with melee strikes. Whenever attacked, a 4-sided die is rolled by the GM. If it's even, the character dodges the strike, if its odd then the character fails to dodge the strike and must rely on a normal dice roll for the outcome.
Job Sucktitude: Feet Fail: This character cannot use his feet in combat. He is also dire in the use of weaponry, limiting his combat options (-3SM penalty when using weapons).
Perks -) Fists of Dan McGraw(2): +2SM with fists -) Toughness: This character can survive one lethal outcome per chapter. -) Politician(2): +2SM in speech checks. -) Bruise'd Bruiser: Because of injuries inflicted prior, this character loses 2SM to all combat rolls (while players gain +2SM when attacking).
So, let the melee begin! Get through this initial check then counter with your own roll. Tsunami gets two rolls because of his new perk.
[Melee!] Pete, Vinny, Tsu SM: 3 ***
Meanwhile, and completely oblivious to the violence going on upstairs, Starlong arrives with Blanka in new clothes that, strangely, look exactly like his old ones. He asks the attendant where his friends are and is told they are in the mayor's office, discussing business. You imagine that is what the yelling, crashing and gunfire coming from upstairs is all about. The attendant, who is a young gangly lad trying to do well in his new job, then has an idea. To save time, he tells Starlong that the reward money for him and his friends is waiting in the vault and that he might as well go down and collect it while waiting for his party to come back from their meeting.
Starlong, you can: a) Go to the vault and collect that 15,000g, or- b) Insist on being shown to the mayor's office.

If I succeed, Tsunami looks straight at Alfonse "You know, if you leave RIGHT NOW... I won't make your other arm useless too." (That spelling really doesn't look right to me...) Attempt to scare Alfonse into leaving swiftly roll: 13

Initial Check: 7
Assuming that works, I'm going to stick to my initial plan of taking the Mayor hostage before he makes an escape. Not much the security can do when we've got Mayor Meat-shield at gunpoint.
I Really Want a Hostage Situation Roll: 8

Sorry bout the mix-up, Kieron; I meant you get two rolls/actions after passing the initial check. I'll take your first roll for it. So you attempt to intimidate Alfonse (whose parents had no truck with a 'ph' doing the work of a good, honest 'f') and...?
Just waiting for Vinny and Starlong.

Initial roll: 5
If I get past that check, I'll draw the sawn-off and aim for Alfonse's face. That should make him think twice. Roll for shotgun intimidation: 3

"Tell you what son... Hold still a second." I say, leading Blanka up to him. "Have a smell Blanka, get that scent."
If the guy gives me a perplexed look, which he no doubt will, I take Blanka away again, before saying:
"Alright, here's what I want you to do. Go down to the vault and collect our reward and meet me at the Adventurer's Society Lodge in 10 minutes. Do this and there's 1000gp in it for you. If you decide to run with the cash, Blanka here can track you down no matter where you go and will make you his new chew toy. Off you go, I have some negotiations to join..."
I wait to hear his response. If he complies, then I head straight to the mayors office in order to kick down the door and stand there looking like a Big Damn Hero, gun in one hand, whip in the other, and Assault Dog snarling by my feet.

[Melee!] Vinny: 5 SM: 3 Target: 18 [Fail]
[Melee!] Pete: 7 SM: 3 (-1, Vinny's Special Ability 3 is in effect) Target: 20 [Fail]
[Melee!] Tsunami: 3 SM: 3 (+1, tag-team in effect and so is Dan McGraw but Vinny's SA takes one off) Target: 15 [Fail]
Huh. Wasn't expecting three fails; I should've set the SM higher. ***
The security men strike quickly, disarming Pete of his pistol and catching Vinny a crack on the head which almost knocks him out cold. Tsunami is barely on his feet when a thundering punch from Alfonse lays him out on the floor again. It's an awful start to the fight, and you each have the following penalties going into it:
Pete: You no longer have your pistol, which has been kicked away.
Vinny: A concussion means you'll suffer a -3SM penalty when being attacked during this fight.
Tsunami: That punch has left you unsteady. You take a -1SM penalty when attacking.
With that out of the way, here's the actions:
[Buckshot Sandwich?] Vinny: 3 SM: 5 Target: 20 [Success]
Vinny points his sawn-off right at Alfonse's face, who hesitates when faced with what could essentially turn his head into fertiliser. This makes him skip his next action and allows Tsunami a chance to get to his feet. Well done!
[Ring-Out Intimidation] Tsunami: 13 SM: 3 (+2 for Sawn-Off prominence, -2 for Alfonse Politician) Target: 19 [Fail]
Unfortunately, Tsunami's attempt to make Alfonse cut and run from the fight isn't successful. You still have another action to use, though.
[Hostage Hero] Pete: 8 SM: 3 (+1 for Freelancer, -1 for Vinny's ability) Target: 16 [Fail]
You dash away from the fight, past the stricken Alfonse, and leap over the desk with your sword in hand ready to take the mayor hostage. Or at least, you begin to leap over the desk but it is suddenly upturned by a suprising burst of strength, sending you sprawling backward onto the floor. The mayor then rises up from behind is desk with, to your horror, a tommy-gun.
"You think I set this organisation up without getting my hands dirty?!" he says, laughing. "You're finished, chump!"
[Survival Time] Pete SM: 5 ***
Meanwhile downstairs, Starlong makes his offer which leaves impressionable young attendant perplexed; to his knowledge they were just going to give you the money anyway, but he complies all the same and says that he'll meet you in front of the Adventurer's Lodge later tonight with the money. With the rather large ambush in the vault evaded (it involved a rather dangerous fellow by the name of 'Cleaner'), you head up the stairs toward the mayor's office...only to encounter two elite bodyguards standing outside the closed doors.
They are both women. They are both Judo experts. I think you know exactly who they are. You ask them politely if you can go on through but do so without much hope in your voice; since when have you ever been THAT lucky?
Heads up-!
Boss! Mona Job: That One Boss
Job Aptitude: Evasion: This character enjoys a +3SM boost when dodging an attack.
Job Sucktitude: None.
Perks -) Melee Maestro: This character enjoys +3SM when attacking in close quarters. -) Gemini: This character has a twin and losing this twin will result in a severe drop in combat ability (-5SM on all checks). & Lisa Job: That One Boss
Job Aptitude: Evasion: This character enjoys a +3SM boost when dodging an attack.
Job Sucktitude: None.
Perks -) Aerial Ace: This character enjoys +3SM when attacking fro the air. -) Gemini: This character has a twin and losing this twin will result in a severe drop in combat ability (-5SM on all checks).
Youve got the first move, Starlong. What do you do?

Dodge: 8
Quite happy with the number of holes my body has, I roll out of the Mayor's line of fire. I pick up the nearest heavy object to hand and hurl it directly at his face. This of course works because as we all know, throwing your weapon always works.

Were these different circumstances, and I was, say, a 21 year old female ex-cop named Blaze Fielding who was a master of judo and fond of Lambada, I would kick their asses, girl on girl threesome style. Sadly, I'll have to approach it a bit differently this time.
'I don't have time for this.', I think, imagining the others might need my help.
I Just Shoot ‘Em. Unless it happens to work on both of them, I pick Mona to shoot dead. Lisa I set Blanka on, saying "Go for the legs!" as mobility is everything in martial arts.
