Good to hear. And I'm even going to waive Starlong's resist check just as a kind of 'welcome back' thingamie. ***
Before you can say anything, the vigilante grabs Starlong by the scruff of the neck. He leaps backward and starts to swing him around his head in rapidly accelerating arc. Once he's sped up into a blur, the vigilante leans back and then fires Starlong at the dock workers, with Pete and Vinny leaping out of the way just in time while Blanka lies flat against the ground.
"Starshot!" he bellows.
The dock workers are sent flying like a pack of skittles opened with too much enthusiasm. Starlong continues flying like a bullet, a stream of Nintendo-esque stars glittering in the wake. He flies out of the harbour, and out over the water before the momentum begins to wane. He skims across the water a few times like a stone before crashing and tumbling beneath the waves.
So, checks for Starlong!
[Hat Check] Starlong SM: 5
[Narcalepsy Check] Starlong SM: 5
[Swim back to shore/don't drown check] Starlong SM: 5
In that order. Welcome back, Tsunami.

Ah. apologies for the last one. the way I interpreted said situation would have you heading toward the docks, yes, but I thought there was the distance that I wouldn't have the strength to throw you that far. So yeah, enjoy XD

I watch Starlong sail through the air as I dive out the way. I utter a short prayer for his safety before looking back at Tsunami. I try to speak but don't know where to begin. Instead, my mouth silently opens and closes. When this is all over, I may try to make a living impersonating goldfish. However, in my mind, the thought process runs something like this:
"He's the vigilante? Shit, how do we explain to the Mayor that the person we're trying to catch is in fact a member of our group? Will his contribution (if you can even call it that) aboard the ferry be enough to pardon him? What has he been doing that got the town in such an uproar anyway? Maybe we should just flee town as soon as we get Starlong back. Or maybe not, I like a challenge. How did Tsunami survive anyway? Sod it, we can find out once we survive this. But how are we going to..."
I look towards Tsunami, mouth "Play along." and then proclaim to the crowd at large that this man is to be brought before the Mayor for a fair trial. I then subtly wink at Vinny and ask him to help me restrain the prisoner.
Oh, and "Blanka? Check up on Starlong, help him back to shore and fetch his hat if you have to. Rescue Dog, away!"
I should point out, I do in fact have a plan. I'll let everyone in on it once we're safely on our way to the Mayor's office.

[Hat Check] Starlong: 2 SM: 5 (+1) Target: 2 [Success of Eternal Laser Awesome! (No idea where I got TESLA as an abbreviation :\]
O-kay. Let's see, your hat...levels up? More like it takes a level in bad-ass.
The velocity at which you were thrown pretty much melted the flak in your hat, which then hit the bracing cold sea-water. The effect this has had is to temper your hat, which now offers more protection than even the most advanced helmets ever made!
New Perk! Starlong -) Spartan Hat: You've really put it through the mill, haven't you? This character's hat is now tough enough to deflect mallets, bullets, and explosions which means that whenever a head injury would result, it is instead negated.
But that reminds me. You were wondering if Vinny could help you out with a roll, right? Well, thanks for reminding me about that SM penalty he inflicted on you all!
[Narcalepsy Check] Starlong: 2 SM: 5 (-1) Target: 17 [Meh]
Fortunately, as you flounder in the water trying not to drown, you do not suffer a sudden (and fatal) sleep attack. You have been made groggy, however, and this will affect your efforts to swim ashore. Fortunately, Pete's command has Blanka jump in after you to assist so it'll cancel out the penalty. But not the Vinny one.
[Schwim] Starlong: 17 SM: 5 (-1) Target: 15 [Success]
With Blanka's help, you are able to make it back to the jetty and clamber up. Meanwhile, the dock-workers are chuckling at what Pete has just said but are complying and will take you all to the mayor if Tsunami co-operates and allows himself to be restrained.

I allow only Pete and Vinny to attempt to restrain me... for the obvious reason that I won't be really restrained by them, they'll just make it look good. If any of the crowd makes a comment, I point out that they tried to kill me not seconds ago.

Damn, I was hoping we'd have the authority to disperse them. I suspected this might happen though, therefore I will merely make it clear that the others should simply play along.
Once at the town hall, we march Tsunami directly to the Mayors office where we announce that this is the vigilante he is looking for.

I'll just make a quick detour via the Adventurer's Society Lodge with Blanka to put on some dry clothes and dry him out with a towel, no point us catching hypothermia after all. I also give him a doggy treat and ample praise for saving my life, and we quickly head after the rest to the town hall, hopefully in time to catch most of what happens.

And since when have you ever been that lucky, Tom? ***
You take Tsunami, with the gang of dockworkers in tow, off to the town hall. Along the way there's a great deal of whooping and jeering, especially from the Dying Swan Club. You are shown inside the lobby, but are then faced with a problem. You are told to head downstairs, where you will be given your money direct from the vault. Tsunami is to be led upstairs by some of the mayor's men to the mayor's office. Alone.
So, what do you do now?

We refuse to let them take Tsunami.
"The Mayor wanted this guy caught or ran out of town. We've done one, now we're offering you the other at no additional cost. If the Mayor wishes to know how we can guarantee he will not return, we will happily explain. If he doesn't, fetch us our payment and we'll be on our way. Your choice."

It is explained back to you that there's no need for any such guarantee; they'll take care of the vigilante. Your payment can be brought up to you if you so wish but Tsunami is to be taken upstairs.
In the lobby, you have the dockworkers (still armed with their wrenches and what-not, numbering 12) and some security detail (x4), one of which has gun. Tsunami is restrained, but loosely, and will be able to fight if that's the way you want to play it. It's made clear, though, that Tsunami is not leaving the building peacefully.
A speech check can be used for:
-) Go with Tsunami/See the Mayor (SM: 4) -) Talk your way out of the building with Tsunami (SM: 1)
Oh, and Starlong and Blanka are still on their way from the lodge, so it's just you and him, Pete.

Because Vinny's not paying attention? Thanks a bloody lot.
See Mayor Speech: 2
"You really don't understand, do you? You think yours are the only toes that this guy has trodden on? My friends and I happen to know some rather, shall we say... "interesting" people in Paris that would very much like to see him. We are volunteering to escort him to Paris and deal with this separate party on your behalf. I only wish to tell your Mayor who he has the opportunity to aid. Unless you would rather risk Frozen Wolf bringing her wrath down upon you instead of this one.
Before you accuse me of bare-faced lying, I just want to point out that we do know Frozen Wolf and her party in some fashion and that they probably are in Paris, not to mention that I'm pretty sure they do wish harm on Tsunami and therefore everything I just said is backed up by genuine conviction. Surely this twisted form of honesty will count in my favour, especially if they've heard of Frozen Wolf and her compadres, which I'm sure they have given every other bugger on the boat knew to steer clear of them.

Pete, that was inspired. Screw the check, in you go.
And it ain't my fault Ross has been AWOL for a month. ***
The mayor's people hesitate, not sure what to make of this information. They decide to to let you head on up with Tsunami, with the intent of blaming it on their supervisor if it ends in trouble. As the dock workers are shown back outside, the three of you are taken up the stairs to the upper balcony, where the mayor's office is.
Inside, you find the mayor and his liuetenant, Alfonse, waiting. Alfonse glowers at Tsunami as you are led in, between the two attendants. The mayor's eyes are shifting from Pete to Vinny, wondering why they are there.
"So, you caught the vigilante for us," said the mayor, still unsure. "Were you told that your reward is being gathered for you from the vault?"
He looks over at Alfonse and makes a slight questioning motion with his head. Alfonse shrugged.
"Doesn't matter!" said the mayor, smiling suddenly. "Allow me to extend my heartfelt- yes?"
One of the attendants, the man you BS'd earlier, has stepped forward and lifted his hand.
"Boss, these people are here because they know who this vigilante is. They're offering to take him to Paris and negotiate some kind of deal on our behalf."
There's a moment of silence in the room. Alfonse, staring at you, leans toward the mayor and whispers something in his ear. The mayor pauses then seems to pull himself in toward his desk by gripping the underside.
"Ah," he said. "Well, that IS interesting. We've been trying to make connections with Paris for a while now. Tell me, who exactly would you be able to put us in touch with?"
The attendant tries to answer for you.
"They mentioned someone by the name of-
"I wasn't talking to you," replied the mayor coldly. "The two of you can go now. Tell Cleaner that we might have a change of plans, and to wait."
The two attendants leave. The mayor then looks at you, waiting for an answer.
What do you do?

"Allow me to furnish you with all the details. Your vigilante here has caused trouble with various other people, including a rather blood thirsty elf known as Frozen Wolf. I doubt there is anything to gain from dealing with her and her party, but not doing so would see you stand to lose a lot more. Let's just call it insurance against marauders.
If it's contacts in Paris you're interested in though, I can look up a Captain I know. Perhaps you've heard of Lord Maxwell? He took quite a shine to me back in Portsmouth-on-sea and will no doubt be happy to see me again. Either that or it'll be a canoe in his pocket. As such, I'm sure he'd be happy to help the kind people who assisted our party in any way he possibly can. Help us on our way and we'll act as your official emissary to Lord Maxwell and the dignitaries of Paris. What d'you say?"
I flash him a winning grin and anticipating his agreement, offer my hand for a hearty shake.
Oh, and since we've established that Vinny's still there could his silent vigil offer some sort of reassurance bonus? At the very least, Tsunami's intimidation should be in effect. After all, the Mayor is anxious to get rid of him.

A slow, wide smile has been spreading across the mayor's face as you talk. When you mention Lord Maxwell's name a short guffaw escapes from him. When your pitch has ended, the mayor and Alfonse glance at each other, looking amused.
"No deal," says the mayor. "But, uh, thanks for the offer. Your money should be ready by now. And don't worry if this elf of yours comes 'marauding' into our town; you're always welcome here, okay?"
It was a dismissal. What do you do now?
