Presenting a dramatisation of the events that unfolded today via Elance: ~~~
[British-based University bursts through the door]
"DrWordNuke! We need your help!"
"Dammit, man! What happened?!"
"Some punk is trying to delete a Wiki page about our prototype motor-cycle helmet! The technology could save LIVES!"
"Damn it all! People need to know about this potential life-saving technology! How can they do that without the relevant Wikipage information? Hundreds of bikers' lives could be saved! (why do I want to do this again?) TO THE NUKE-CAVE!" [whoosh]
$250 advance to save some wikipage, $250 on completion. Fuck. Yeah. Also if anyone has experience editing a Wikipage then help me out; I've got the basics down, just need to win the argument on the discussion board. 0_o'
If you would like to track the progress of DrWordNuke aka Barr59 as he tries to save the Thermahelm page then, uh, go to the Thermahelm page on Wikipedia over the course of next week.

This sounds like the quirky adventure of some misfit in a film that takes its aesthetics from the 80s.
*Jots down more ideas.*

Well, as sure as I am that the leading lady in all this probably loves me I still only have 14 hours an hour and a half to save that damn Wikipage.
Addendum:
That didn't go too well.

I arrive online a day too late to witness this nonadventure. Basically it's as if nothing at all has happened. Which ... sounds about right for this place, actually.
But hey, you're still up $250, right?

Actually, I didn't earn a dime. I discovered that you can't pay advances through Elance (you have to finish the job then the whole amount gets released). On the bright side though (...) the page DID survive its review somehow en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ThermaHelm I don't think I'll be able to wrangle the commission from the guy, though.

How the hell did it survive the review? After reading that damn thing, I had a quick burst of schadenfreude and wished you luck.
Seriously, Stephen King couldn't have adapted that into a winner. And his publisher will buy any turd nugget he hands in.

That's what I was wondering. How the hell did that article get a 'no consensus' judgement? The discussion seemed pretty consensed to me.

Making use of the contact details given to me by the employer, I attempted to track down the guy and get payment for the (accidentally) completed job.
Epilogue: Man, this £291 sitting in my bank account sure does look pretty ~_~

Seems a good time to point out my policy about a finder's fee.
