Am I back from my rough and tumble whip collection yet? If so, I postion myself for a "just shoot 'em" in case the fight goes badly... (But I make myself look like another fight spectator as to not rouse any suspicion)

Pete places a cautious hand on Starlong's arm and reminds him that corpses are never nearly as useful as the living. Surely non-lethal intervention would work out much better?

As a "Marksman", I should be able to hit Arwen's foot... though i will admit there would be a small chance of Fire Bear being hurt, thanks to the hurly-burly of combat...

So the foot-shot failed. Heh.
But remember, Becks; your character does have a First-Aid kit I believe so if things get bad just throw that on yourself to recoverome HP. Check the stat tracker (bottom of it) for item info.
Now make yer move!

Wait, I'm confused...
Did Enigma stop the fight or not?
And if not... Surely someone with only a sword would realise that there's people on my side who have guns. And would hesitate. Letting me do this:
...
"Wait! I need your help!"
Arwen hesitated.

Just for that, I'm going to have Arwen hit you. Again.
Fire Bear HP: 7
Arwen HP: 10
Now roll yer damn dice. You only need to win one roll to win (subjugate the enemy, rather than kill).

I'm gonna have to make you roll your hat for that, Starlong. [Starlong: roll dice, hat-check]
*** Guys, listen. I've been thinking. How 'bout we drop the whole stats thing and go for a more 2nd-person adventure format with decisions and event rolls only? It'd really speed things up (to be honest, the fights are kinda boring...unless you have a chair and popcorn). Instead, fights with others become more of a 'I do this/that/etc' then they roll for it. More dynamic. More capacity or calamity and colossal fuck-ups.

Oh, thank God... Now, I'll roll to incapacitate her (eg. get her sword off her). ... What? I got- I got... Holy fecking crap! 13! Ooh, the world loves me today! (Hopefully.) .... Wait, do I decide what happens now?

Oh, joy. That sounded like a license to go NUTS.
And to commemorate the occasion, I ROLLED A 19 (SUCCESS OF ETERNAL LASER-AWESOME). My NPC does not get incapacitated but instead fights on with all the grim fervour of a goddamn chefess who's had one too many orders returned with complaints of 'too cold' and 'too spicy' and 'there's cigarette ash on my steak', well NO MORE. So furious is her renewed assault that she drives you all out of the ruins of the Brothel and into the street, knocking Fire Bear down with a great Haymaker. Why was she so pissed at Fire Bear? We may never know; she has seemingly lost focus in the midst of her berserker rage and careened down the street on a furious and indiscriminate rampage; so much for the horses contact. If the horses were in the Brothel stables then they're probably pretty dead by now.
You are assembled in the dark street. Starlong, Fire Bear, Pete Skulduggery, Enigma, and Old Man Zev. You need to make a decision.
Do you: a) Follow Arwen? b) Find an alternative mode of travel? c) Check the collapsed stables for any live horses? d) Something else?
(Guys. Seriously. As quests go this is the most epic fail at preparation I have ever seen. Well done.)
Starlong, roll for your mystery condition.

Shiftily looking around for other angry husbands, Pete's anxiety and impatience take over and he runs off to the ruined stables to check for living horses.
I roll a 13. +2 for my stats giving me a roll of 15.
Pete runs back to the others and explains that since horses have a higher level of intelligence than your average brothel patronising drunk, they survived. He suggests we take advantage of the situation, steal the horses and let Madame Maureen assume they fled in the destruction.
