Don't worry, Pete. I'm sure I'll think of something else to do to you.

It was Christmas; I figured everyone would be busy with their general relaxation. I know I was.
Alright, guys, gather up; lets get this rolling again. ***
You all reach your designated patrol zone, near the docks and the warehouses close to them. You can smell the sea though you can't see it in the dark. Armed with whistles, lanterns, and the general feeling that it will be a long night you start the patrol with all the fervour of people who've a long night out in the cold on their feet ahead of them. Trudging might be the word we're looking for here. Whatever the case, several hours later Blanka starts to look more alert; he appears to have smelled something.
You see something move far-off, unsure because of the gloom. This person appears to be heading toward the harbour. Blanka starts to growl and then bounds off into the night, in pursuit. You follow him, trying to keep up with the white shape running far ahead of you.

You head for the warehouse district, though Blanka has ran on ahead. Chasing him, you enter an opening leading down into a line of warehouses and stop. A heavy-set person, the vigilante presumably, is running towards you, fleeing from a large group of dock workers wielding spanners, wrenches, chains, and anything else that had come to hand. Blanka is running behind the vigilante, apparently heading up the pursuit and herding him towards you.
Standing where you are, you've effectively blocked off the vigilante's escape and he runs toward you, waving his arms and yelling. What do you do?

Listen.
Is he yelling anything comprehensible?
If not, we try to stop him by reassuring him that everything will be sorted out peacefully. After all, violent acts of vigilantism are exactly what we're here to stop.

You stop and listen. He is yelling something but it's hard to hear over the general roar of the group pursuing him. He then leaps onto a crate and launches himself backwards from it, turning over in mid-air to try and slam down on his pursuers. He misses, however, and goes over them as they run under him. The dock-workers turn about and charge down the recovering vigilante. If you're going to settle this with diplomacy, you may have to wait until after they've beaten him to death. What do you do?

Shout at the attacking crowd very loudly. A sort of a bellow, really; something loud and attention grabbing.
Hell, if that doesn't work, I'll fire my gun into the ai- ground (so as to avoid a wayward bullet following the old adage of what goes up must come down.) Don't think we should bother trying to reason with these people, just assert some authority and demand that he be restrained and brought before the Mayor.

Might work.

And where's everybody else? Seems like they're still on holiday.
...
Oh, wait. It still IS the holidays. Hmm.

Then we shall proceed with this gambit. If it works we'll wait until they decide to step in and support this action, but if it fails, we'll wait until one of them saves my ass.

Your warning shot is largely ignored and the dock workers move to attack the vigilante. They are warded off, however, by Blanka, who has taken up position in front of him and is growling threateningly at anyone who comes too close. It's only a matter of time before someone takes swing, though.
What do you guys do next?

Can we take up position between the vigilante and the mob? If so, we should do so and then restrain the vigilante while stopping the mob from crushing him.
Then we can determine if it is the vigilante or if this the the case of mistaken identity before he strikes from amist the crowd :/

You'l have to force your way through the crowd to do that.

Anyone can roll for it, but it'll apply to everyone if it succeeds or not.

And it hasn't. Barely.

You are able to push your way through the dock workers before things get out of hand and join Blanka, who is still defending the vigilante. Now close to, you can see the vigilante clearly for the first time. He is wearing glasses and yet appears familiar. But I'll leave the introductions to the player controlling this character.
