Whoops, I wrote in the wrong number. The roll I made came in as a 2. Sorry 'bout that, folks. I must have had Tom's roll in mind as I was writing in the numbers and that wrote over the 2 in my short-term memory, as happens often when people are, for instance, trying to explain the last three seconds of a poker bet to me.

I'd like to argue against the injustice of a false call for whatever reason, but it would probably blow up in my face since it's a small slip up.
"Guys," I begin calmly, raising my hands to chest level, "look at the scene. He's holding the gun, his mental state was poor, at the very least we deserve a fair trial and a proper investigation."

They aren't through the door yet, Pete. You've still time to prepare.

In that case, I grab the documents on the recently's desk and find out exactly what they prove. PM me the info.

You know this really sucks. In my mind my character left his gun in the storage locker when he put everything valuable in it, but I guess I should have explicitly stated that or something. If I had done this, could you PM me what the alternative Epic Fail would have been?
Well let's just assume that I now have all my equipment on me and get on with this mess.
After staggering back in shock and hitting the wall, I force myself to come to my senses and quickly search the room for anything gadget wise that might be useful for a non violent take-down of the guards. [I'll even roll for this: 9]
All this time I'm going "Merde... Merde! MERDE! Why did he DO that?!? Look, are we going to try to reason with those guards or are we subduing them?" I ask Pete, earnestly adding "Under NO circumstances can we start a firefight in here!"

"That's fine, I have a sword. Give me a second to look through these papers."
Oh, I also look for any and all documents Deiter had on their DEX project. Roll: 4

Alright, let's roll
[Find a Gadget!] Starlong: 9 SM: 5 Target: 4 [Success]
Your search yields up one of Deiter's inventions that he was fond enough to keep in a drawer of his desk. It is a device designed for non-lethal take-downs, Deiter's favoured field of research. It is a shock-gun that fires a bolt of electric like a bullet, stunning a target for a short time. The range is short (6 feet), but is instantly effective. It is called the 'Hush-Puppy' and must be equipped to use (replacing the N-10 you have).
[Document Search] Pete: 4 SM: 5 (+1) Target: 14 [Epic Fail]
As you search for documents to provide further info about this 'Batch D' (check PM), you happen upon a lock-box sitting on the desk and pick it up. You release the catch, open the lid, and are then slipping to the floor as crazy knock-out gas hisses from the mechanism and knocks you flat out-cold. You'll be unconscious until the security men outside are dealt with...but if Starlong escapes the office and either of these two guards are still conscious, well, let's just say it might not be looking too good for old Captain Skulduggery.
You now have to prepare for their inevitable entrance into the room. You can hear keys jangling from the other side of the door which are being pressed into the lock. What do you do?

Vinny groaned. "I hate my life... alright Fire Bear, either we try and talk our way out of this, or you bio-bomb them and we run like hell. So unless you got the mother of all beautiful lies lined up, get gassing."

Fire Bear's eyes narrow in anger - not at Vinny, of course.
"Lie?" she asks. "Why would we lie? It's not our fault this time! Besides, the bio-bomb could easily backfire..."
She looks to the police officers and walks over to them, confidently. "Hello officer. I'm afraid that we may have accidentally caused that explosion. We were hired to deliver a box which someone claimed to be for a 'client'. So, if you don't mind, we're going to go back to our rooms at Lodge. If you want us to help with the clean up process, you'll find us there."
[Roll: 16 + whatever I get for the Politician perk.]
Then, if they don't start shooting at us, Fire Bear turns on her heel and walks briskly away towards the store they had come from (she's gonna collect their due). (And I'm presuming Vinny follows.)
Also, hopefully, the walkie-talkie doesn't crackle into life till after we've got out of sight of the police. Then Fire Bear answers and tells Tsunami to meet them outside the store.

~~Fire Bear, Blanka, & Vinny~~
That's your plan? You say you accidentally bombed a building and will be going now, 'kay, thanks? This is gonna be a low SM.
[Bomber's Blag] Fire Bear: 16 SM: 2 (+1) Target: 10 [Fail]
The policemen look at you, then at each other, then dra their guns and ask you to accompany them to the station. What do you do now?

Failing that, I may utilise those animals...

Vinny does indeed have a better plan. It's called getting the hell out of there.
---
Vinny rolled his eyes. "Hell, I tried. You're on your own," he muttered to Fire Bear, then suddenly gasped loudly and pointed behind the cops. "OMIGOD!!!" he screamed then, as the momentary distraction (hopefully) worked, he darted into the crowd and Blended In.

My N-10 is currently unequipped as it in the lifeless hand of Deiter. I equip the Hush Puppy (taking a brief moment to familiarise myself with the aim) and pocket all of the documents I had brought into the room in the first place. With no time to attempt to rouse Pete, or to look at the documents he uncovered, I prepare to face the guards.
I stand six feet from the door with my hands raised, but in my hand is my Society badge.
As soon as the guards enter the room, I say in a commanding tone.
"Stand down gentlemen! Get a medic! And your supervisor!"
They'll no doubt be hesitant, so I shout "Get help NOW! We may be able to save him!

Ross, I think I just fell in love with you.
Tom, that's not a half-bad plan you've got there.
~~Fire Bear, Blanka, & Vinny~~
After Vinny disappears, the police assume you are guilty because he's done a runner and left you, his accomplice, to face the heat. They attempt to arrest you, citing your rights. You can resist arrestor go quietly, the choice is yours. Expect an SM of 3 for the former. Expect to become a fugitive if successful. Expect Crap to Rain if not.
Where do you go to, Vinny? Or do you watch from afar?
~~Starlong & Pete~~
The security men burst through the door and pause as they take in the scene. They see you standing there with the hush-puppy, the dead doctor, and the unconscious Pete lying beside him. They turn to you and a drawn by your society badge, then you deliver your line...and it works. They nod and dash off to fetch a medic and their superior officer, who will no doubt be less susceptible to the powers of authoritative BSing. Pete rouses and drags himself to his feet. The door is open and you have documents crammed into every pocket. Time to leave?
